Celebrating Five BPI Employee Promotions

Saratoga Springs, NY:  Building Performance Institute has always been honored with staff who are intelligent, hardworking, kind, and loyal. This fall we reluctantly said goodbye to three valued longtime staff, Bruce DeMaine, Sue Carson, and John Jones, who we wish the very best in their new ventures.

Fortunately, other capable staff were prepared to fill in the gaps, and the transition provided an opportunity to advance them into new positions of responsibility. We’d like to recognize the following staff for their recent promotions:

Lynn Franz initially joined BPI as a temporary Customer Relations Representative in 2010. Since then, she advanced to become Manager, and then Director, of Customer Relations, and served in that role for many years. Her deep experience with all aspects of BPI’s day-to-day operations made her the natural choice for Chief Operations Officer upon Bruce DeMaine’s retirement in early November. We are honored by Lynn’s expertise and dedication to BPI.

Meghan McCormick has served in a variety of roles since joining BPI as Customer Relations Representative in 2011.  Since then she has served as Manager of Major Accounts and Building Science Project Manager. She was promoted to the role of Director of Client Relations in November. Lynn left some very large shoes to fill, but Meghan’s deep history with BPI and conscientious work ethic are perfect for this role, and we are very grateful for her expertise.

Michelle Watrous joined BPI as a temporary Customer Relations Representative all the way back in 2009. She was invited to join as a full time CRR, then promoted to Assistant Manager of Test Center Development, then Compliance Coordinator, followed by Manager of Compliance, before being promoted to Building Science Project Manager this fall. “The main reason I love working here is because of BPI’s culture,” says Michelle. “We have a fantastic team that works well together and it’s really like having a second family.”

Darlene Welch joined BPI as a Technical Field Representative in 2010. Since then, she has served BPI as a Certification QA Coordinator, Standards Coordinator, and later as Technical Relations Representative. We are honored to have promoted her to Technical Project Manager, a critical role that will increase our capacity to maintain and develop standards and certifications at the pace of today’s demanding industry.
Darlene says, “My work at BPI is very rewarding because our standards and certifications help home performance contractors and certified professionals ensure they are performing quality work while improving comfort, energy efficiency, and health and safety for their customers.” We agree, Darlene, and we’re grateful that you’re with us!

Rachel Kozlowski has been an outstanding member of the BPI team since joining as a Customer Relations Representative in 2022. Her impressive personal initiative and commitment to accuracy are ideal for her next role at BPI: she was promoted to Manager of Compliance this month and we couldn’t be happier to have her!

BPI's CEO Larry Zarker recently celebrated the promotions at the annual BPI holiday party. “As we enter the new year, we want to express our pride in all the BPI staff," he said. "They bring a wealth of experience, dedication, and passion to our industry, and we are excited to celebrate their promotions. We know they will continue to go above and beyond in their new roles. Please join me in congratulating these promotions and wishing them continued success."
