Building Performance Institute Board of Directors Reaffirms Leadership of Larry Zarker

Saratoga Springs, NY: The Building Performance Institute (BPI) would like to confirm the continued leadership of its long-time Chief Executive Officer, Larry Zarker, as it maintains its stature at the forefront of credentialing during these unprecedented times in the clean energy industry.

“I am proud to reaffirm Larry Zarker’s leadership as Chief Executive Officer of BPI,” said Amanda Hatherly, Chair of BPI’s Board of Directors. “As CEO Larry has been a champion of excellence in energy efficiency and healthy housing for more than 15 years, driving workforce standards and credentials development that set the bar for quality in building performance contracting.”

Zarker has overseen an extraordinary period of diversification in BPI’s offerings. Under his leadership BPI launched the Building Science Principles Certificate of Knowledge exam and companion Reference Guide, introducing tens of thousands of people to promising careers in building performance, as well as the Healthy Home Evaluator certification and Healthy Housing Principles Certificate of Knowledge exam and Reference Guide, which expands the skillsets of building science professionals beyond energy performance. Zarker also led the development and national rollout of BPI’s advanced Home Energy Professional (HEP) certifications for the Department of Energy and the Weatherization Assistance Program workforce.

“I look forward to helping the home performance industry not only take advantage of the huge opportunities presented by the Inflation Reduction Act and other initiatives, but also building a just and equitable expansion of the workforce that includes individuals from underserved communities,” said Zarker.” I am proud of the talented and steadfast team of industry experts at BPI who have dedicated many years of their lives to building a robust energy retrofit industry. We are especially gratified to see the market respond to the need for a well-trained, certified, and diversified workforce.”

BPI certified professionals hold over 15,000 active certifications in the marketplace. More than 300 BPI Goldstar contracting companies perform work according to BPI's quality assurance standards, and more than 100 energy efficiency programs nationwide specify BPI credentials to ensure quality in project delivery.
