Announcing the Newly Appointed Members of BPI’s Standards Technical Committees (STCs)

At Building Performance Institute (BPI), our Standards Technical Committees (STCs) are essential to advancing industry-leading standards that promote quality, consistency, and innovation across the building performance and home energy efficiency sector. These committees bring together a diverse group of technical experts and practitioners who volunteer their time and expertise to ensure that our standards reflect real-world practices and the latest technical insight.  

We are pleased to announce the newly appointed members of the current Standards Technical Committees, whose collective experience and commitment help guide the development, review, and maintenance of BPI’s standards. 

Single Family Standard Technical Committee (SF-STC)

This committee plays a critical role in shaping standards that support residential building assessments and performance criteria across the single-family housing sector.  

Multifamily Standard Technical Committee (M-STC)

This committee focuses on standards that address the specific challenges and technical procedures relevant to multifamily buildings and multifamily energy evaluations. 

Data and Modeling Standards Technical Committee (DM-STC) 

Chair: David Heslam, Earth Advantage 
Vice Chair: Sydney Roberts, SEE Alliance

The DM-STC helps guide development of data modeling and information exchange standards — including protocols that support standardized energy savings estimates and data interchange formats critical to performance analytics. 

Supporting Working Groups 

In addition to full STC membership, BPI’s standards process includes working groups focused on specialized areas such as: 

  • BPI-2200 — Standard for Home Performance-Related Data Collection 
    • Chair: Noel Merket, Pearl Home Certification 
  • BPI-2400 — Standard Practice for Standardized Qualification of Whole-House Energy Savings Predictions 
    • Chair: Gamaliel Lodge, OptiMiser Energy 
  • Water Efficiency Annex for BPI-1200 
    • ​Chair: Joan Hughes, Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE)
