BPI Seeking User Interest Category Members for Data Modeling Standards Technical Committee (DM-STC)
We are currently seeking additional participants from the User interest category to join the Data Modeling Standards Technical Committee (STC), the BPI committee supporting the development of BPI-2400 and BPI-2100 (HPXML).
-
BPI-2400, the Standard Practice for Standardized Qualification of Whole-House Energy Savings Predictions by Calibration to Energy Use History (also known as “the Delta Standard”) specifies the requirements and process for the calculation of standardized predicted savings using approved building energy simulation software
-
BPI-2100, Home Performance Related Data Transfer (referred to as “the HPXML Data Transfer Standard”) is an open data standard (based on XML) for sharing information about residential buildings, energy audits, retrofits, and related program data.
The standards development process ensures transparency and inclusivity, allowing diverse perspectives and feedback to shape the final product. Public review is a crucial part of the standards development process, as it helps identify potential issues, strengthen the quality, and improve the usability of standards before approval and implementation.
Each voting member of a technical committee must assign themselves to an interest category. This requirement comes from both ANSI Essential Requirements and BPI’s own procedures, ensuring that no single perspective dominates the committee. Interest categories help maintain balance in the standards development process, promoting fairness, transparency, and broad acceptance of the standard.
BPI defines our interest categories as follows:
-
Industry: Members involved with researching, designing, producing, distributing, or selling materials or products related to the body of standards.
-
User: Members who purchase, use, install, or specify materials, products, systems, or services related to the body of standards.
-
General Interest: Members who are neither Industry nor User. This category may include programs, utilities, government, health/safety professionals, or other organizations and associations.
For the Data Modeling Standards Technical Committee (DM-STC), we are especially looking for participants from the User category to ensure that the perspectives of those who actively purchase, use, and specify these systems are strongly represented.
By joining the STC now, you will have the opportunity to:
-
Contribute to the direction and content of the standard.
-
Collaborate with peers and thought leaders in your field.
-
Help ensure the standard reflects the needs and practices of the broader community.
To apply, please complete the STC Application Form by October 20, 2025 and return it to standards@bpi.org.
