Saratoga Springs, NY: Building Performance Institute (BPI) is proud to share that Amanda Hatherly will serve as its next Chief Executive Officer.

In this role she will lead the organization toward a future that includes thriving home performance businesses and training centers, economic opportunity for contractors and professionals, and improved housing stock for our nation.

Ms. Hatherly brings 15 years of experience in leadership positions within the energy efficiency and building science community to this position. Much of her previous work has been focused on creating equitable access for the home performance workforce to energy efficiency career opportunities, especially those in disinvested and low-income communities.

Ms. Hatherly holds a Master of Science in Educational Technology from Boise State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Auckland. She has worked asa Building Analyst at the helm of her own company and as a building science trainer and BPI proctor.

She started a training center for the Weatherization Assistance Program and led it to become the primary training and BPI test center for eight states’ Weatherization Assistance Programs and for several utility home performance programs. Most recently she managed the LEARN program, a California-wide free energy efficiency and electrification workforce education and training program, through Richard Heath & Associates, Inc. She has served on the BPI board of directors for six years, most recently as Chair.

“Amanda Hatherly brings a depth of experience in building science and a deep respect for integrity in certification and standards development to this role,” says BPI board chair Keith Kinch. “She’s a great collaborator and has demonstrated her ability to recognize and develop new market opportunities. We’re proud to have her lead BPI into the future.”

“Working with Amanda over the past 15 years has been a real pleasure,” says outgoing CEO Larry Zarker. “She has a deep understanding of how buildings impact the health of occupants and a genuine commitment to equity. I’m proud to pass the baton to her and look forward to what BPI will achieve under her leadership.”

“I’m very honored to join BPI in advancing standards, credentials, and quality assurance in the home performance and weatherization industry,” Ms. Hatherly says. “From my earliest days in the home performance industry, BPI has been integral to my growth and development, shaping my understanding of best practices and my commitment to energy efficient, healthy, safe and durable housing for all.”

In her spare time, Amanda enjoys being with her family, taking hikes with her dog, and making delicious bean to bar craft chocolate.
